Terengganu Darul Iman is the east coast state on Peninsula Malaysia with Kuala Terengganu beings its coastal state capital.
It is also the gateway to several island destinations like Redang, Pulau Perhentian and Pulau Kapas. Rantau Abang, a sea turtle nesting area, is also popular with visitors.
Don't forget to grab a bite of Keropok Lekor and Laksam when there!
Once I overheard from someone, that this will be the place for his retirement. Kuala Terengganu is indeed a very relaxed, laid back and simple town to live in. You will need a car to get around in this town, just enjoy the scenery as you drive along the coastline.
Kuala Terengganu is famous for keropok lekor and 'jus gelas besar' (huge glass of fruit juice). Be adventurous to mix and match your fruit juice! Or have a glass of 50sen coconut juice drink by the beach.
The people in Kuala Terengganu are really friendly, try stopping by those fishermen huts along the coast and chat with the fishermen. They are willing to share stories about their adventure in sea and while you are at it, you can buy a few fishes from them too!
