"Garden State" Victoria, the smallest mainland state, sits on the southeastern corner of Australia. It is densely populated and urbanized with a population of over 5 million people.
Melbourne is its capital and largest city, and contains 70% of its population. Regarded as Australia's cultural capital, the city features plenty of museums, galleries, Victorian-era architecture, parks and gardens, festivals and sporting events, and a strong food, wine and coffee culture.
Victoria is also known for its natural attractions such as The Twelve Apostles, a collection of limestone sea stacks standing just off the shores of Port Campbell National Park. However, due to erosion over the years, The Twelve Apostles now remains only eight standing as of 2005.
