With the origins of the human species coming from this continent, Africa is considered the oldest inhabited territory on Earth. The second largest continent, made up of 53 countries, with vast savannah plains, deserts and dense rainforests.

It is also considered to have the highest density and diversity of wild animal population in the world. Its longest river, the Nile, runs 6,650km from Burundi to Egypt. The Namib Desert is the oldest in the world while the Sahara is the ever-expanding desert at an average of 0.8km per month.

The fastest land animal, the cheetah, calls Africa home as well as the tallest animal, the giraffe, and the African elephant as the largest land mammal.

Africa is known for its vibrant cultural festivals and numerous safaris for the adventurous to explore.
