Must-Must Try Fruit Shake

Hang Gai Street, Hanoi, Vietnam
A dessert / drink worth every Vietnamese Dong. We stumbled to this shop while wandering in Old Quarter, you are at the right place if you can spot shaved ice in plastic trays, tall glasses filled with colorful fruits and plastic stools. It's a healthy mixture of papaya, banana, watermelon (no!), mango, avocado, kiwi and some seasonal fruit like dragonfruit and longan topped with sliced sweet jackfruit and strawberry (my favorite!) and drizzled with evaporated milk. I swear they put a dab of honey to provide the extra sweetness but some of my friends say no honey added. How to eat? Sit down on one of the stools and you will be served one glass of mixed fruit and a tray of shaved ice promptly. Scoop some ice into the glass, mix till some of the ice melt and eat. Yum! Put in more ice if you wanna reduce the sweetness. It's crazy good.
Date of visit: September 2009
I would recommend this restaurant to: Budget travellers, Group of friends, Whole family
