P.S.: It would be so cool if you could give us some feedback and suggestions on our downloads. We'd love to hear from you.

Brin' out yer inner pirate tomorrow as you 'ave a good excuse t' do so. September 19 is International Talk Like a Pirate Day.

No kiddin'. It's an actual event. OK, parodic holiday. But an official one nevertheless.

It started out in 1995 by Mark Summers and John Baur o' Oregon, USA, based on a goofy idea by humorist and author Dave Barry. Needless t' say, t' idea took off.

Remember t' talk pirate tomorrow t' your mom, dad, beauty, neighbor, t' waiter takin' your what crawled out o' t' bung hole (dinner) order, t' doubloonsier (cashier) at t' market - anyone! People may stare at you weird but it's OK. Just for a day. A pirate like you can handle it.

However, please remember to switch back by Sunday. The fasting month of Ramadan ends with the Eid ul-Fitr or Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration then. It's a much awaited festive holiday here in Asia and around the world. Enjoy the festivity and the long break.

*Click to check out our eCard.

If you are traveling back to your hometown for the celebration or visiting your Muslim friends, travel safe and take care.

Oh. Don't forget to share your festive photos with your friends on Koolred.

Arrr, have a great holiday!

Let's do a quick quiz:

If you ever find yourself in a dire situation (accident, house on fire, trapped somewhere, lost, you get the idea...) that requires urgent help, or witness someone who needs help right then and there, do you use your mobile phone to:

A) update all your social media status to spread the word to all your network of friends around the world;

B) update one of your most active social network sites and hope someone from your network is online to help you get help;

C) post a Twitpic online because a photo speaks louder than words; OR

D) call for help yourself.

Which did you choose? What's your first action to your situation?

If you select A, B or C, then there's something to worry about. Your answer should be D (kudos to those who answered this right!).

Why did we bring up this subject? Because of this news piece we came across our Twitter this morning:

We think this is a serious concern. Though Koolred is a social media site like many others such as Twitter and all, we thought we give a public service announcement of sorts about this matter to you, our dear Redsters.

Social media or social networking sites are great for connecting people together, keeping them in touch with each other no matter where they are in the world, and sharing information across the globe. It can get quite addictive too, with users checking on their social media sites on a daily basis, keeping them constantly online.

It's not really a bad thing. It makes connecting with your friends fun.

However, all that said, we at Koolred want to highlight the importance of not being too dependent on social media sites at times of need, especially urgent times as mentioned in the news above. If you - God forbid! - find yourself in a situation such as that, please do yourself a huge favor and consider the urgency and perhaps, the danger as well. During an emergency, use your phone to call for help - not logon to your social media site and update your status to get help.

Although news travels fast through social media, it won't go as fast if you need emergency help from the proper authorities (police, medical, etc) - offline - NOW.

Calling for help using social media is not new. One rather famous incident was highlighted in our Forum not long ago. And there was, thankfully, a good ending to another in the US. The second incident is an exception, of course. The chances of that happening all the time is very slim.

So please. Please consider the urgency of a situation and take the right course of action. If you have a mobile phone at hand, use it to call for help. Updating your status is not an option in such cases. Dial the emergency numbers instead. You could be on time to save a life, whether it's yours or others. Please keep that in mind.

We want our Redsters and those around them to be safe and well.
