It rained on and off (and a bit stormy at one point) when German band Tokio Hotel was in Malaysia for their first concert. Pun unintended to their song, Monsoon. Good thing by the time they came out to perform, the rain had stopped for awhile already.

The venue of the concert was at the One Utama Shopping Centre; its grounds which was blocked to accommodate the event. It was relatively a "free" concert. I got my ticket the day before - just bought their Malaysian Edition 'Humanoid' CD and the ticket's inside.

Needless to say, Tokio Hotel is one of the hottest bands around and their fan base is massive. At the concert, there were fans from Hong Kong, Indonesia, Thailand and Singapore as well. The concert space was kinda small and hence, people were packed into tight spots in front of the stage. Seriously, I couldn't move most times though I did managed to inch my way closer to the stage slowly throughout the evening. I had several hours to do so, anyway.

The 'entrance' opened at 6pm with fans rushing in. There were two opening acts first and a DJ spinning some club tunes as fillers in between acts.

Pop Shuvit performed their set about 7pm, which got some people a little too excited and started moshing in the middle of the crowd to the annoyance of most of the audience who had gotten pushed around in an already tight space.

2nd act was the very energetic Bunkface, though there was a technical failure with the lead singer's microphone for one song.

Anyway, the crowd grew impatient after the long wait for Tokio Hotel (their crew took 15 minutes to set up their equipment while the DJ entertained with some tunes, though no one seem to appreciate it by then).

Finally, by 9.15pm, Tokio Hotel came onstage. Bill, Tom, Georg and Gustav gave a good solid performance to the many cheers and sing-alongs with their fans. They performed for an hour and came out twice for the encore. Their playlist was a mix of old and new tunes from both their current and previous English albums.

The final time they came out was when fans were screaming for them to play Monsoon, which was one of my favorite songs too. Tokio Hotel was pretty naughty though. They came out to perform Monsoon in its original version (which was released roughly 8 years ago): in German!

The fans sang-along nevertheless, but in English, while the glam-rocker vocalist Bill went on singing in German.

Anyway, I was amused. And I'm sure everyone there had fun.

After enduring long hours of waiting for Tokio Hotel, through rain and sweat, it was a good show in the end. Apologies for my blurry photos. Very difficult to snap photos when I get pushed, squished around so much.

Good news though: It was announced that Tokio Hotel will be back in Malaysia again soon. So those who missed the recent concert can start saving up for the next one.
