Last year I wrote about crepe cakes from
Food Foundry. I've never tried crepe cakes before then and to be honest after tasting these cream-layered cakes, I did not really understand what the fuss was about.
But then when I returned to Melaka I was brought to by my best friends to chill at a cafe that specialises in crepe cakes. Zzzzzz. Of course I did not decline. And it was good that I didn't decline... by the end of this post you'll find out how I come to *heart* crepe cakes.
I was brought to Nadeje Patisserie (Nadeje pronounced as Nad-jee) located above Dataran Pahlawan Megamall, Melaka.
The cafe is pretty big as there is an inside dine in and there's open-aired dine area as well. We sat outside so it was a really cosy environment and provided awesome ambiance. You can just pop open your lappie, have a cup of coffee and indulge in some crepe cakes...
Not a very good pic I know... but basically this is where we were seated, on comfy cushion chairs!!
You can choose from an array of flavours. I mean it's so much extensive as compared to FF. They serve normal cakes as well, like cheese cake and chocolate cakes... but I mean you're at Nadeje and their crepe cakes are a must try!
Again sorry for the horrid pic... basically you can see what I mean by "extensive".
Here is an excerpt from the
official site of Nadeje which lists down all the flavours of crepe cakes:
Original: This cake is the origin of Nadeje Mille Crepe. Home made custard cream with Tahitian Vanilla Beans mix with Fresh Cream. It would melt smoothly in your mouth… But the rich taste and aroma definitely stay there.

Orange Chocolate: Black chocolate crepe sandwich with juicy and sweet mandarin orange cream.
Tiramisu: We use high quality Mascarpone cheese of Galbanoni, Italy.
Praline *NEW* not listed on the site but it was on the menu when I went that day. Basically it's praline nuts flavour.
A slice is RM8.50 if I recall, but some are priced higher by a dollar or RM1.50+.
So we ordered Cheese, Praline and Rum & Raisin (alcoholics, kk am just kidding). Guess which one I selected as my flavour???
I also ordered my latte together with my Praline Mille Crepe Cake (yes, praline is what I chose because I am such a fan of Baskin Robbin's Pralines and Cream so I assume the taste would be the same ho ho ho.
We also ordered some fries to munch on with our crepe cakes.
At that point when my friend ordered the Fries I honestly didn't want to have any. But after we peppered it to perfection, I started knicking some before I could stop myself!!
So let's find out how the cakes were *Verdict Time* Upcoming mouthwatering photos of the crepe layers.
CHEESE MILLE CREPE CAKE
The cheese flavoured crepe cake has got to be the best in my books! It truly taste like a mixture of a cheese cake and a normal mille crepe cake!
RUM & RAINSIN MILLE CREPE CAKE
This one is not too bad, you can't really taste much rum (I think I know why) but it's definitely very berry-like. Oh and there's raisins in it too =)
PRALINE MILLE CREPE CAKE
The one I selected. It contains nuts (tiny bits of 'em). It's very much like a normal crepe cake but I felt it had like a hazelnut-taste to it. On the top there is a caramelised praline nut and a heart-shaped chocolate.
The cheese flavour finished fast too haha I mean it tasted really good anyway...
Ultimate bliss!!! Bombs away!!!!
So overall it was a good experience for me since I always refrain myself from indulging in cake. I think I've never been this excited about cake since I found out how nice Starbucks' marble cheese cake was!
Oh and yes, this is a must share! Before we headed to Nadeje I gave my Blackberry a 'costume'. Do you see the furry white ball at the back? That's its tail and it can stand on its own! So now it's a
Bunnyberry!!
Check out Nadeje if you can... who knew the best mille crepe I tasted was from Melaka. Sigh, this just shows how I need to bring my friends from PJ to Melaka for a food trip.
