They are here!!!
My beloved macarons which I have come to adore are finally in my grasp. I ordered them from a local baker called Big Boys Oven and have been recommended by several peers of mine to give it a try.
And so I finally did.

For a box of 20 macarons, I had to splurged out a whopping RM55 (I think that's pretty pricey... I mean I can buy a dress with RM55- cheapo!!!) in which I calculated meant that each pop costed me RM2.70.
For those of you who aren't sure of what a macaron is, well it's basically a French sweet confectionery. It's meringue-based and my sister, who bakes says that there is a loooot of sugar involved. And the last time I found out what chocolate mousse was made off I nearly died!

Each box of 20s would allow you to choose two colours (for the shells) and two flavours (for fillings). Flavour fillings that are available are pistachio, chocolate ganache, raspberry, lime, caramel and peanut butter. I remember having a dillema between choc ganache, caramel, peanut butter and for some reason, pistachio prior to my order. Eventually I settled for caramel (in orange shells on left) and choco ganaches (in beige shells on right):

I never even got to choose which shell colours I wanted... I mean I kinda forgot about that and so the chocolate ganache came in Sesame seeded shells! I was pretty bummed out as I honestly try my best to avoid sesame stuff... But it was alright... taste pretty salty. The chocolate ganache bit was soooo good... though I didn't like how it was lined with birthday-cake-like cream.

I liked this flavour... though I wish they would have inserted more chocolate as that was the reason why I fell in love with macarons in the first place (thick and rick fillings)! As for the caramel one, it was alright... again with the cream hmmmmph! Caramel inside, it made the macarons chewy as you bite into the crust.

Sorry for this horrid shot... for some reason my camera just got temperamental and didn't wanna help do that whole close-up effect. I had two and have decided to put them in the fridge. I am told to have them kept for no longer than four days in the fridge before it is unsafe for consumption. Hmmm not sure about that but I am sure I don't wanna take any risks. So I drafted a note to be placed on top of the box to shoo away macaron-stealers in my house (I rent a place with other housemates):

"PLS DO NOT STEAL MY MACARONS! I KNOW HOW MANY ARE THERE INSIDE!"

Yes, I do.
Eighteen. Twenty minus two equals eighteen. So if there is one less than eighteen, I'll know I've been robbed.

I've wanted to have macarons ever since I first had them (months ago)... and now to have them again is just bliss! Next time I'd probably try the pistachio or peanut butter ones (that is if I don't start feeling guilty for downing 252 calories every time I take a pop)... or I could just learn to bake them when I actually have a nice and proper kitchen to bake in!
