April 22 is Earth Day, a day to commemorate the awareness and appreciation of the Earth's environment. This movement began in the US in 1970 and continued to be celebrated annually around the world since then.
This year's effort is themed The Green Generation Campaign. According to
Earth Day Network, this effort follows three core principles:
-
A carbon-free future based on renewable energy that will end our common dependency on fossil fuels, including coal.
-
An individual’s commitment to responsible, sustainable consumption.
-
Creation of a new green economy that lifts people out of poverty by creating millions of quality green jobs and transforms the global education system into a green one.
Who's the Green Generation? Well, you (yeah, you, Earthling), ordinary people who can make a difference by changing the way they live and do things. This campaign is a two-year initiative that will culminate in the 40th anniversary of Earth Day in 2010. Learn more about this initiative

Don't just say "Go green". Live it!
