Hello, Redsters! Christmas came and went but the holiday mood lingers on. This is the last week of 2008 and 2009 is just two days away. The new year beckons indeed!

Koolred has received a large number of signups over the past weeks. We, the team, are so pleased to see new members populating the site and we hope more will join in the fun this 2009.

The objective of Koolred is not only to connect people but also to help them meet new friends and mingle through the many fun sections members can find here.

Upon signup as a Redster on Koolred, you are given a profile where you are given the control to customize it to a certain extent. For example, did you know you can change your profile avatar?

When you sign up, you are automatically given a default avatar that will appear on your profile. An avatar is a graphical image of a user. Therefore, the avatar will represent the user, identifying him/her from other members on a site.

Sure, Koolred has an avatar gallery of 26 cartoon images to choose from. But we like to encourage Redsters to use their own cool photos of themselves as their personal avatars. Why? Let's face it: It's way cooler as you stand out from everyone else.

So how do you change your current default avatar? It's easy, really. Just follow these simple steps and as illustrated by the images here:

Step #1: Go to the Me! page (marked as 1 on the image below) where you'll find your profile.

Step #2: Click on My Profile (2) which will bring you to the About Me section.



Step #3: On the About Me section, click on Change my avatar (marked as 3 above), a text link located just below the current avatar image.

Step #4: This will bring you to the Edit Avatar page where you can select Upload your own avatar (marked as 4 below).



Step #5: Next, click on the Browse button (marked as 5 above) to locate your image from your computer. Remember, your photo must be in either JPG or GIF format and within 2MB in size. Then click the red Upload button to, well, upload your photo.

Step #6: Once uploaded, don't forget to click Save. The Save button is on the bottom right of the Edit Avatar page.

That's all. Your new avatar will be displayed on your profile immediately upon Save. We told you it was easy.

So if you're still using the default avatar, it's time for a change. Simply follow the six little steps mentioned above will fix all that.

The other good thing about this is that you have the flexibility to change your avatar any time you like. You can do it every day if you want!
