Before the sun even crept over the horizon, I had already boarded a plane. Destination Macau. My first trip without joining any tour group. 3 hours and 40 minutes later we landed at the Macau International Airport. After disembarking from the plane the passengers were ushered into a waiting shuttle right on the tarmac. Half a minute later we were at the terminal gate. Yes. The ride was that short. Most of the passengers couldn't help but chuckle when the shuttle stopped.
Half an hour later after clearing customs and an encounter with drug sniffer dogs, we found ourselves in the arrival hall of the airport contemplating our next move. The original plan was to take a taxi to the hotel but I wanted to get a tourist map first. So it's off to the tourist information center in the airport and from there we got to know that our hotel does provide free shuttle service from the airport. A half hour wait and we were on our way to the hotel.
The normal check in time was 3pm and it was a little after 12pm when we arrived. Having registered our names at the front desk we dropped our luggage there and it's off to see the sights of Macau.

Lunch was the first item on our itinerary. A few steps away from the hotel we found a little local coffee shop or 'Char Chan Teng'. Ordered the famous 'Chu Pa Pao' or Pork Chop Bun and a rice dish with coffee and tea. The 'Chu Pa Pao' was ok but a bit dry for my taste. My wife had the same thought. The coffee and tea were great though.

Along with the rice dish.
With lunch out of the way, we headed north. Our destination was the Lin Fung temple. We hopped on a bus and ended up at the Barrier Gate bus terminal instead. We had to get off the bus at the terminal. Asking for directions we learned that the place was not too far away so we decided to walk instead.
Since we are already at the Barrier Gate, we had a look around the place.
The Barrier Gate. The section of the old gate is preserved and located in front of the customs office that now separates Zhu Hai and Macau.
Built in 1849 by the Portugese that were ruling Macau at the time. Now Macau is a China Special Administrative Region.
This is a pic of the 'Hung Tao Ping' or Red Bean Ice drink that I had on the way to the Lin Fung Temple. Nothing special but great after walking around on a hot afternoon.
After a while we reached the temple. Lin Fung temple is among the oldest chinese temples in Macau. Built in 1592 it is still in use till this very day. The main altar is dedicated to Kuan Yin or the Goddess of Mercy while there's another altar for Kuan Tai.

Another shot, showing the metal brazier.
This is just after the entrance of the temple looking into the temple proper.
This is shot from inside looking out the main entrance. Was fortunate enough that there's no other visitors there in the temple when I took this shot. Can't really stand in front of the altar when there's people offering prayers now can you? The fact that it was a Thursday afternoon probably helped too.

Photography information:
All shots except for the food shots and hotel shot are done using a 20mm f2.8 prime lens fitted on a full frame digital camera.
The food shots and the hotel shot is done on a 24-85mm zoom lens. I put away the zoom after this and used mainly the 20mm ultra wide angle lens.
